Community Raised. Active Neighbor. Ready for Change.

Kim Davie, moved to Sacramento from Los Angeles, California, at the age of 4 years old.  Her parents moved straight into District 2 and her family has happily been home owners in the district since 1965.  Kim went away to college at San Diego State University, but returned home after several years and received a B.A. degree in Liberal Studies from California State University, Sacramento (CSUS).  She also received a multiple subject teaching credential from the Multicultural/Multilingual Teacher Credential Program, a supplemental English credential, and an Educational Administration & Leadership Credential all from CSUS.  Kim is very proud to be the first member of her father’s family to receive a college degree and thus college is very important to her and the young lives that she continues to mentor.

Meet Kim Davie

Although freshly retired, Kim spent the last 15 years as a vice-principal at Grant Union High School.  Her most cherished professional position thus far.  She loved teaching, but was able to touch and mentor more lives as an administrator.  During that time period, she was responsible for the inspiration and beginning of the Grant Drumline, a Communitywide Awards Program, Founder of Black Girls Rock, which she started at a time when African American young ladies’ relationships were strained.

Over the years Kim has received several community service awards from organizations such as: TLC Soup Kitchen, Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Grant Criminal Justice Magnet Academy, Rotary Club of Sacramento.

Kim is inspired by a long line of community servants in her family, including her mother Leslie Campbell, who was honored at UC Davis and a dorm built in her name, a great grandfather who is the founder of Church of God In Christ which is today one of the largest churches in the country, a great aunt who was named United Negro College Fund Teacher of the Year.  She has truly taught her 3 sons about becoming public servants – Richard Davie, Jr. is a 20 year US Air Force veteran, Tyree Davie is a medical doctor in District 2, and Jelani Davie is a 28 year old homeowner who loves giving back to his community.

At a young age, Kim worked with young impressionable children hoping to motivate and encourage.  At the age of 15, she was a camp counselor to young girls from the Del Paso Heights community and after that she continued to work to support youth in district 2.  She was a teacher’s assistant for summer school (Hagginwood Elementary), Peer Counselor for Big Sisters/Big Brother program (Norte Del Rio) a Girl Scout Leader (Fairbanks Elementary), an Education Specialist, then promoted to Director (NYSP), varsity softball coach (GUHS), softball coach (Jr. Pacers)
